Good Days, Bad Days

When you have UC, you completely understand that statement. Yesterday, I was feeling almost normal. I have not felt like that in more than a year. Today, it's a different story. Maybe it was the shrimp scampi from last night (tomato sauce two nights in a row may have been too much) or the lack of sleep. Victoria also forgot to mention that there was flour in the sauce. I've been wheat-free for about three weeks now and I've been feeling much better. I did some reading about the relationship of wheat allergies and UC, so I thought I'd give it a shot. My sinuses have also been killing me the last couple nights and I haven't been able to fall asleep before 11:30. My cold appears to be pretty much gone at this point, but I'm still dealing with the after effects.

I heard an interview with the golf analyst David Feherty. I think he has become my hero. He's on the board of a great charity - Troops First Foundation. Here's the link if you have a chance to check it out.

If these guys can deal with what they have gone through, I think I can deal with my UC. Stories like these are what keep me motivated at times.

David has also made some "controversial" statements over the last few years. In my opinion, I don't find them very controversial since I think plenty of people agree with them. Here are a few of them...

"From my own experience visiting the troops in the Middle East, I can tell you this, though: despite how the conflict has been portrayed by our glorious media, if you gave any U.S. soldier a gun with two bullets in it, and he found himself in an elevator with Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and Osama bin Laden, there’s a good chance that Nancy Pelosi would get shot twice, and Harry Reid and bin Laden would be strangled to death."

"As for me, my politics are somewhere in the middle—and then way outside both wings. I believe in the death penalty, especially for pro-lifers, child molesters, those opposed to gay marriage, and for stupid dancing in the end zone. I believe in the abolition of estate taxes and the Pickens Plan. I'd lower the legal drinking age and raise the driving age to 18 nationwide, make Kinky Friedman governor of Texas, and make all schools, public and private, start earlier with one hour of physical exercise."

"Actually, some sort of exercise would have helped me. If I kicked the shit out of Tom Cruise, I'd feel a lot better about myself." (He's recovering from depression and alcoholism and Cruise made some comments that therapy and drugs are useless.)
